That 70's Show

‘That 70's Show’ is an American comedy that successfully ran from August 23rd, 1998 till its conclusion on the 18th of May, 2006. The show follows a group of teenagers living in the fictional town of Point Place, Wisconsin. As a series, it addresses a number of social issues and cultural movements popularized in the 1970's, including sexism, economic recession and drug-culture, thus incorporating a highly vintage or nostalgic vibe.

The pilot episode opens with a retro party where the group, led by Eric Forman, are attempting to smuggle their parents beer into the basement. Following this opening event, we are introduced to the teens as they go about a number of general activities that serve to highlight the diverse nature of interactions, and introduce to the remaining cast members. These activities include going to a concert, breaking parents’ rules and even using marijuana.

The show concludes with the main character Eric sharing an intimate and complicated kiss with neighbor and close friend, Donna.

After watching the episode, I have concluded that the show could possibly be targeted towards a different crowd, particularly adults who lived during the era and could therefore interpret and enjoy the wittingly crafted humor. For myself however, I found it a little distant and obscure.
